Dry Mixes in a Jar... Italian Dressing Mixes



Dry Mixes... these mixes are not for canning, but may be stored in canning jars.

Instant Italian Salad Dressing Packets

Recipe Ingredients: 
* DRY MIX: 

* 1 TB garlic powder 

* 1 TB onion powder 

* 2 TB oregano 

* 1 tsp pepper 

* 1/4 tsp thyme 

* 1 tsp basil 

* 1 TB parsley 

* 1/4 tsp celery seed 

* 2 tsp salt

WHEN READY TO SERVE
* 2 TB mix 

* 1/4 c apple cider vinegar 

* 2 TB water 

* 2/3 c extra virgin olive oil

Recipe Instructions:

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. 2 TB of mix equals one salad dressing packet. Mix one "packet" of seasonings in a cruet or jar with oil, water, and vinegar. OPTIONAL: For those who like a slightly sweeter dressing, add up to 1 TB of your favorite sweetener (honey, sucanat, etc.).

Italian Dressing Mix

1 tsp. dried minced onion 

1 Tbsp. dried parsley leaves, crushed 

1/4 tsp. ground oregano 

1/2 tsp. dried sweet basil leaves, crushed 

1/4 tsp. ground thyme or marjoram 

1/2 tsp. celery seed 

1/4 tsp. garlic powder 

2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

1-1/2 tsp. granulated sugar 

1/8 tsp. salt 

pinch of pepper 

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, stirring until evenly distributed. Wrap airtight in heavy-duty aluminum foil and label. Store in a cool, dry place. Use within six months. Yield: 1 package (4 tbsp.) To make many packages of this at once, place a square of foil for each package on the table. Measure out the ingredients, one at a time onto each square of foil (first measure the dried onion onto each piece of foil, then the parsley, etc.) Wrap each tightly and label. 

To make the dressing: 
1 package (4 tbsp.) Italian Dressing Mix 

1/3 cup red wine vinegar 

3/4 cup vegetable oil 

Put all ingredients into a bowl, cruet, or pint jar and stir or shake until well blended. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes before serving. Yield: about 1 cup of dressing

Original recipe makes 0.5 cup dry mix
Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon garlic salt

* 1 tablespoon onion powder

* 1 tablespoon white sugar

* 2 tablespoons dried oregano

* 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

* 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

* 1 teaspoon dried basil

* 1 tablespoon dried parsley

* 1/4 teaspoon celery salt

* 2 tablespoons salt

Directions

1. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic salt, onion powder, sugar, oregano, pepper, thyme, basil, parsley, celery salt and regular salt. Store in a tightly sealed container.

2. To prepare dressing, whisk together 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2/3 cup canola oil, 2 tablespoons water and 2 tablespoons of the dry mix.

To Make Dressing 
1/4 cup cider vinegar 

2/3 cup olive oil 

2 Tbsp. water 

2 Tbsp. dry mix

In mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients.Store in airtight container. 

Dressing 
Add all dressing ingredients to jar. Tightly close lid. Shake well Refrigerate 2 hours before using shake before using.
