We Be Jammin'... Amish Traffic Jam


Amish Traffic Jam

3 cups sour cherries

3 cups fresh Strawberries

2 cups red raspberries

7 cups sugar

Wash and seed cherries. Wash the berries.

Mix the fruit and sugar together and cook quickly, until fruits are clear and tender.

Seal in hot jars. There weren't any exact measurements given.

  1. Yea, I've been looking for a recipe for this! Question: I can never get jam to set up unless I use pectin. Do you think using a box of sure jell would work with this recipe? Looks like the right amount of fruit and sugar to me! What say you??? Thanks

    1. Yes, I'd use a box of SureJell. I have the same issues with jam setting up. ~~Granny

    4. Update: Using a box of regular sure jell worked perfectly! I just followed the directions on the box. Thanks again for the recipe.

Place fruit with sugar in the pan bring to boil then cut the stove off, let set over night,on the stove, the next morning bring back to boil then cut down to medium simmer, stir often after 2 hours bring back to boil for 30 minutes over medium heat, will be thick and ready to process, without all the sliders of fruit all over the stove.

  2. I googled "jam recipes w/out Pectin" and found this link http://www.theyummylife.com/Berry_Jam. She has great information and recipes which I found very helpful. I'll be making the Traffic Jam recioe later today or tomorrow. Sounds so so good. Thanks for sharing!!

  4. I was wondering on waterbath canning....10 minutes sound right? That seems to be what I see for most fruit jams...
